Sakura

Cherry blossoms (Sakura) are a symbol of spring for Japanese people.
The cherry blossom front moves from south to north across the Japanese archipelago, meaning the peak bloom varies from region to region.
In Tokyo cherry blossoms usually bloom from late March to the beginning of April, but in Nikko they bloom more then two weeks later than in Tokyo, and you could see even in late April in some places.

You can get a flyer ‘Sakura Kaiyuu’ at train stations or information centers. They are only available in Japanese, but they are very useful as they include a map of blooming spots.

The blooming period is very short and only lasts one to two weeks.
A flurry of cherry blossoms blown in the wind is absolutely stunning.
